mix: things I have loved I am allowed to keep.

things I have loved I am allowed to keep. when love evaporates to only an idea in the chill air and roots are buried under the frost. you have to look. you have to know. it's there - you have to reach out and grasp it and hold on.

+ have listened to this 10+ times, legit. I'm sort of in love with it now? I hated the second section for a long time until I found some other songs and now it tells me a beautiful story. a fair number of instrumental, some with heavy lyrics. I'm not much of a lyric person, preferring the instrumental feel of the song (which most of them were chosen for) but there are lyrics that help communicate how I meant the song to fit in, so I've included them. the last track starts about 1:23 in, and what you have to know about the song is in english.

  1. oren lavie, her morning elegance
  2. she looks at the rain as it pours, and she fights for her life
  3. abigail washburn, oh me, oh my
  4. no, I don't know why you love me, no, I don't know why but oh, ya do
  5. mirah, the world is falling
  6. instrumental purposes
  7. charlotte sometimes, build the moon
  8. tell me you love me, tell me you'll love me soon
  9. the london apartments, it is never goodbye
  10. my hands are splitting at the seams
  11. sara bareilles & ingrid michaelson, winter song
  12. they say that things just cannot grow beneath the winter snow, or so I have been told
the seasons always change and life will find a way
  13. vienna teng, cannonball
  14. so come on courage, teach me to be shy, cos it's not hard to fall
  15. stars, the vanishing
  16. instrumental purposes
  17. epik high, 쉿
  18. instrumental
  19. 植松伸夫 (joe hisaishi), suteki da ne
  20. instrumental
  21. regina spektor, the flowers
  22. things I have loved I am allowed to keep, I'll never know if I'll go to sleep
  23. vienna teng, waking hour
  24. instrumental
  25. laura marling, typical
  26. I have felt loneliness and I know what it feels like
  27. sufjan stevens, seven swans
  28. he will take you; if you run, he will chase you
  29. the weepies, somebody loved
  30. we never said what we were dreaming of, but you turned me into somebody loved
  31. yiruma, kiss the rain
  32. instrumental
  33. epik high, fly (hidden track)
  34. fly, even if love leaves you behind

Please let me know if you're taking. ♥

photo nine: themes and things

I occasionally do take a set of photos that has a cohesive "theme," as you could say. Well it might be a propensity to hitting the shutter button, but sometimes the batch comes out nicely and hey, that's enough reason to share, isn't it?

To refrain from overloading anyone with photos, I've combined two themes into this post! Enjoy. :)

photo eight: last of summer

I started going through and bookmarking photos to upload today, and there are so many of them (72, and the last is from Thanksgiving) I thought I should stop procrastinating. Here are the photos as summer faded into autumn and school started, among other things. Oh, and I forgot to fix the width when I was uploading, so the direct URL will show a high quality version of the photo! I haven't included links, though, because they're a ton of hassle. Regardless of that, however, I hope you enjoy!

Hello! I just wanted to let people know that my music library is completely up to date! It even has a shiny new format courtesy of minolta and external links to posts in musicyardsale. Feel free to peruse and ask for any uploads! :)

For the mix I just posted, I have an "alternate version" that I burned onto a CD and would like to share, so that should be up soon!

I'll be deleting this post in a bit, so if you have any questions about the post, please leave them there. :)

mix: let the sunshine filter through

let the sunshine filter through. at any point in the day, it is in fact possible to make your day better. sometimes, all you need is a good song to remind you, morning or afternoon or evening.

+ for backtograce, who wanted "good mood music." I honestly went and pulled from a ton of my playlists, going to old favourites because familiar songs always put me in good moods. :p it was odd, though, I realised the strangest songs put me in a good mood, so I had to filter that. and yes, the order progresses through the day. ;)

01. ingrid michaelson, be ok
02. the bird and the bee, la la la
03. snow patrol, crack the shutters
04. corinne bailey rae, put your records on
05. norah jones, those sweet words
06. regina spektor, the call
07. jason mraz, i'm yours
08. u2, beautiful day

10. yael naïm, new soul
11. death cab for cutie, soul meets body
12. rilo kiley, silver lining

mix: unbreakable

"To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one. Wrap it carefully with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in a casket of your own selfishness. There it will not be broken. It will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable." - C.S. Lewis

Harry Potter fic: As the Wall Crumbles

I wrote this story in October of 2005, on nothing but images flitting about in my mind, Hermione as a child, in the garden, with her parents. To my surprise, hurried typing as my family set dinner around me led to this, and after getting my dear friend Jennifer to beta it, I posted it to Mugglenet Fanfiction here. It got a response far beyond that what I'd imagined, getting featured one month, nominated for a Quicksilver Quill both this and last year. (Thank you so, so much for the nominations. I had tears in my eyes today when I saw the nomination post, and last year left me quite speechless.) People have left amazing reviews, and this fanfiction has so much of my heart invested in it that it's a part of me, as stories should be. In January I was going to edit a couple parts and post it, but of course I haven't committed 'til now. It's as I first posted in it almost three years ago, with a couple minor edits on suggestions. It is as it is.

as the wall crumbles
harry potter: hermione granger et al. 2308 words, pg.
she thinks she steps from one world to another just as she has been doing for so long, but the moment she does, the two worlds meld and blend into one.

notes: so much love for elanne, for betaing this years ago - I haven't forgotten! ♥
